Mangaluru : Mangaluru City Police nabbed owner of a fancy store at Kurnadu on charges of trying to outrage modesty of a teenager in the store when she went to exchange a bag she had purchased there on Monday.

Police said the accused also forcibly showed her a porn clip on his cell phone prior to attempting to outrage her modesty by holding her hand and touching her inappropriately when she resisted his attempt to force her to watch the clip.

Acting on a complaint from the teenager, police nabbed Saleem Zakaria, 42, a resident of Bantwal taluk, who runs a fancy store at Kurnadu junction under Konaje police station limits. Police said the accused initially took the complainant to the first floor of his store where he showed her porn clip. When the teenager refused to view it and insisted that Saleem exchange the bag, he took the girl to the ground floor where he attempted to molest her.

A case under Section 354 of Indian Penal Code (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and sections of Pocso has been registered against Saleem at Konaje police station. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody up to July 27, city police chief Sandeep Patil said.
