Subrahmanya: A drunken father-in-law allegedly shot his daughter-in-law over a land dispute on Saturday June 14 at Balugodu in Subrahmanya.
The deceased is identified as Vidya (30). Nagappa Gowda (70), has been arrested for killing his daughter-in-law in his house in Balugodu.
It is said that, Nagappa used to often quarrel with his son Uday for building a house in his property. He was addicted to alcohol. The village panchayat tried to settle the issue several times, Nagappa used to regularly threaten Vidya and Uday.
After the death of his wife Nagappa used to create trouble to his son and his family, at last Uday and Vidya decided to leave the house. Uday shifted to a new house in the same compound. After death of his wife Nagappa were alone he wanted his son and daughter-in-law to leave the house at Balugodu.
On Friday, June 13 Nagappa allegedly threatened Vidya of killing her. Disturbed with his father’s behavior, Uday filed a complaint at Subramanya police station on Saturday, June 14 morning.
The Subramanya police visited Nagappa’s house and in his absence they left a notice on his door. Nagappa angered against his son for filing the complaint, On Saturday afternoon when Vidya was alone working in her house, Nagappa shot her with a gun while he was hiding in the garden.
Vidya died on the spot. Vidya’s son who had just arrived from school saw his mother collapsing on the floor and began screaming.
The neighbours rushed to the spot and informed the police. Nagappa was arrested.
H.B Mendonca, Puttur DySP, Satish B.S, circle inspector and Subramanya SI Naik arrived at the spot. Subramanya police are investigating the case.
