Mangalore: The Feast of Nativity(birth) observed as Monthi Fest for 9 days of Virgin Mary, by Catholics on coastal districts, with lots of devotion and enthusiasm, ended on Wednesday, Sept.7, marking the birthday of mother of Jesus Christ, with children And adults showering flowers on the statue of St.Mary who heads the Catholic Churches in twin districts.
The celebrations began at 7 am in St.Sebasstian’s Church at Bendoorwell. It is the biggest festival in Karnataka for Catholics in various churches on the coastal region.
The festival also acknowledges the kindness of Mother Nature and Mother Earth, with Mother Mary. Ears of Paddy and fresh flowers were seen in many processions.
