Mangalore : Walter D’Souza, chairman of Federation of Indian Export Organizations said that Shree Anand Sharma, honourable Union Minister of Commerce and Industry said that according to foreign trade policy 2009-2014 had set before the country an ambitious export target of USD 500 billion during financial year 2013-14.
He was speaking at the press meet held at the conference hall of Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Feb 2, Thursday. He said that the policy also envisaged doubling of India’s share of global exports by 2020.
He also said that the year 2012 has been projected to be a difficult year for world trade. The World Bank has revised its forecast by pegging the growth in the world trade at 4.4% while the IMF puts it at 4 %. India has the potential to grow faster than these figures provided we have the ideal infrastructure in place.
FIEO the apex body of all the exporters from India has a membership of over 15000. Besides facilitating growth in exports, FIEO has from time to time taken up the legitimate grievances of the exporters before the policy makers.
With a view to making Karnataka the destination for exponential growth in exports, FIEO is organizing a conclave of all exporters of the state on Monday, 13th Feb 2012 at Mangalore. This is the first time that a meet on this scale has been organized in the state of Karnataka. The most important feature of this meet is the collaboration of the Union Ministry for Corporate Affairs. In fact it is the vision of the Union Minister of Corporate affairs, Dr Veerendra Moily to have such a meet in city.
The conclave will have plenary session and technical sessions. The plenary session is expected to be addressed by Honourble Chief Minister of Karnataka and Union Minister for Corporate Affairs, Surface Transport, Commerce and Industry along with state Minister for Industry, state ministers from the districts of DK and Udupi.
The technical sessions will be addressed by Director General of foreign Trade, secretary of ministry of surface transport and corporate affairs along with principal secretary of industry, Govt of Karnataka.
The meet will be held in association with FKCCI Bangalore, KCCI Mangalore, UCCI Udupi, NKCCI Karwar and all other trade bodies of the state.
FIEO will come out with a vision 2020 document for the state of Karnataka to increase its share from the present 6% to 10% in India’s total exports.
