Mangaluru: Mangaluru Bar Council staged protest in front of court premises demanding to file FIR against K J George over DySP Ganapathi suicide case.
Addressing the gathering President of Mangaluru bar Association (MBA) Chengappa said that in Ganapathi suicide case K J George is named as the reason behind ganapathi’s suicide motive by himself.
“It is the duty of the government to file a FIR as soon as they get the death note. The last interview given by DySP Ganapathi should be considered as the death note,” he said.
“As per his last words he named minister K J George and other two higher police officials as responsible for whatever happens to him. So on the basis of this the FIR should be filed on K J George. Output of the CID report will be nil. This case will be buried as some of the previous cases,” he added.
He further said that DySP Ganapathi had met him one week before committing suicide. He (Ganapathi) had explained everything to Chengappa. Chengappa had also consoled him to take patience and wait for the time. “I didn’t know that he will commit suicide so soon,” he said.
“The investigation officers didn’t wait till Ganapathi’s wife Pavana could reach the suicide spot. They lowered the body and sent for the post mortem in the absence of wife,” he said adding that based on the final interview the government should file a FIR on George. If George is not found guilty even after investigation then file a B report and close the case.
The government is burying the case
Previously in a press meet Chengappa had said that the government is trying to bury this case to protect K J George.
“Section-32(1) of Indian Evidence Act says that the dying declaration will have a lot of weight and it must be considered as credible and reliable evidence. Depending on this the police should have filed a FIR under IPC Section-154,” he had said.
