Udupi : A financier hailing from Udupi, has committed suicide by shooting himself to death in his  residence at Shiribeedu Towers on May 28, Tuesday.

The deceased is Santosh Monteiro (37). His wife Rekha and children were in another room when he ended his life. His revolver and some bullets were found near the body. The table nearby had liquor and his laptop.

Santosh who worked in Qatar had settled in Udupi two years ago. His father Salvadore Monteiro ran a finance firm at Bajpe.

The reason for his suicide though is not known, a family problem is said to have driven him to the extreme step.

Udupi police have registered a case and are conducting investigations.
