Vittal : A grocery shop located at Kuddupadavu near Vittal was gutted in a  major fire that broke out on  June  5, Tuesday. The loss of property has been estimated at Rs 13 lakh and huge stock of rice, grains, two refrigerators etc were destroyed. A short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire.

It is learnt there was even Rs 5000 cash in the shop when fire broke out. A tempo driver who first noticed the fire in the wee hours, informed the owner. However, the fire had caused enough damage by the time the fire fighting vehicles arrived from Bantwal. The grocery shop was owned by one AM Aboobakker while the building belonged to another person of Kuddupadavu.
