Bangalore: Days after the nation stood witness to the fire tragedy at AMRI hospital in Kolkata, a fire broke out at the Columbia Asia hospital in India’s IT capital on Friday afternoon.
Like in Kolkata, the fire broke out in the basement of the hospital but the alert staff averted tragedy by rushing out over 100 patients before the smoke reached the first floor of the building.
Reports quoting one Dr Nandkumar said that the patients have been shifted to other hospitals.
Atleast five fire tenders are at the spot and the situation is said to be in control with the Police Commissioner taking charge.
Columbia Asia Hospital is located in Hebbal near the airport.
