Mangalore: A fire in a mobile shop behind Milagres Church, Hampankatta in the wee hours of October 27, Saturday, gutted goods worth nearly Rs 6 lakh. Even a canteen and a fruit shop nearby were charred in the mishap.

The mobile  shop named S  Connect Mobile Centre was owned by one Santosh. A short circuit is said to be the cause of the fire in which several mobile phones, three computers and photocopy machines were gutted.

Police and fire service vehicles rushed to the spot to put out the fire. Pandeshwar police have registered a case.
