Mangalore: Two shops were completely gutted and another suffered partial damage in a major fire that broke out at the Kinnigoli market at around midnight on Friday. The police and fire service personnel who rushed to the spot following a tip off by the security guard of the nearby Anugraha Jewellers extinguished the fire, preventing major damage.

The vegetable shop of Venkappa and a fruit shop of Shettigar were gutted while the partially damaged shop was a footwear shop.

The loss has been estimate at Rs 2 lakh. A short circuit was suspected to be the cause of the fire.
