Kasargod : The incident of firing at the house of a PWD contractor at Bevinje by some unidentified assailants  on July 18, Thursday has aroused much curiosity in the vicinity. There is a strong suspicion that the members of the underworld don Ravi Poojari gang are behind it.

It is said a local Malayalam daily office even received a call stating that the Ravi Poojari men were responsible for the firing at the residence of the PWD contractor, a police official said.

Three years ago too there was a similar firing in the house of the PWD contractor by Ravi Poojari men demanding a hafta of Rs 50 crore.

Senior police authorities including District Superintendent of Police Thomson Jose has visited the house to conduct investigations.

It was earlier reported that some bike bound men had opened fire at the house when the contractor Mohammad Kunhi and his son had been to the mosque in the early hours of Thursday. They fled when the women in the house began to scream. The bullet has smashed window panes and pierced through the wall.
