Mangalore: A total of 1,63,860 children below five years in the district will be administered polio drops during the first round of Pulse Polio drive of 2013 to be held on January 20, informed Deputy Commissioner N Prakash.
Addressing a press meet in Mangalore on January 17, Thursday, the DC said of the total children targeted to be administered polio drops, 2319 are children of migrant labourers.
There will be 921 booths, 11 mobile squads and 27 transit units to ensure maximum number of children below five years are administered the drops. He said 3822 staff and 193 monitors will be recruited to ensure success of the programme.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Dayanand, MCC Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar, Srirangappa, District Health Officer, were also present.
