Mangalore : Members of DK District Gillnet and Traditional Fishermen’s Association staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on October 26, Sunday urging the government to supply subsidized kerosene oil to them.
Addressing the protestors, Association president Ali, said that coastal districts of DK, Udupi and Uttara Kannada are suffering due to non-availability of subsidized kerosene.
He also said that prior to the election, CM had assured to solve the problems of the fishermen and now failed fulfill it. If the government fail to fulfill their demands in coming days, association would intensify their protest, he added.
Association Joint Secretary Subhash Mulihitlu, General Secretary BA Basheer and members Nithin Kumar, Naveen Bangera, Vasudeva Bolur, were present.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim in this regard.
