Udupi : The rescue boats of Coastal Security Police have rescued five fishermen who were stranded nearly 9 nautical miles off Malpe coast after their fishing boat capsized on the night of December 29, Saturday.
It is learnt the fishermen had ventured into fishing the same night but the steering lock of the boat broke resulting in damage. The boat also hit a boulder which caused more damage. As the boat owner received information, he complained to the CSP which rescued the five fishermen.
Those rescued are Venkatesh Ramachandra Mogera (23) of Bailoor and Vasant Appu Mogera (35) of Bailoor, Ganapati Mahadeva Ambiga (26) of Gerusoppa in Honnavar, Suresh Babu Mogera (27) and Ganapati Somayya Mogera (33) of Murdeshwar.
The boat ‘Priya Chetana’ is fully damaged due to the mishap.
