Mangalore: A fishing port at Kulai, to be constructed on a land measuring 9.57 acres near the Sea coast, has been sanctioned by the government and Rs. 166 crores has been collected from NMPT, State government and Central governments, according to North Mangalore MLA Mahiuddin Bava in a statement made at Pathrika Bhavana on Tuesday, November 12.
Apart from a fishing harbour in Kulai fishing markets will be established at Kulai and Kavoor to help fisher men sell their catch. A new building has been taken on rent at Suratkal Railway Station for the establishment of RTO.
State fisheries Minister who was on the dais with Bava and others, K Abhaychandra Jain,informed newsmen that road construction and other facilities will be taken up in his constituency in Moodabidre following sanction of funds.
Ajit Singh, Union Minister for Civil Aviation who was present stated that additional lands for lengthening of the runway at Bajpe for Mangalore International Airport (MIA) has been acquired and the work would start as soon as possible.
The Fisheries Minister revealed that a proposal for construction of a full-fledged Sports Stadium in Kulai on the outskirts of the City has been sent to the State government for approval and necessary funds to complete it.
Mahiuddin Bava added that a drainage system covering all the areas in his constituency upto the fishing Harbour would also be taken care of in the meantime.
