Mangaluru : Five persons, arrested in connection with the damage of eight cars near Yenepoya Hospital at Deralakatte and attempt to murder of a Hindu youth, have been remanded in 15 days of judicial custody.

The arrested are Mohammed Khurshid (21) of Madaninagara, Noushad alias Pase Noushad (32) of Amblamogaru, Rameez (20) of Shanthibagh, Mohammed Thaslim (21) of Madaninagara and Muneer alias Pavaz (22) of Madaninagara.

They had allegedly damaged eight cars parked outside Yenepoya Hospital. During the interrogation, they said that they were conspiring to loot people at a secluded place between Kuthar and Ranipura.

They were also involved in the assault of one Gangadhar at Kuthar, a theft case in a mobile shop at Pundithhouse and at a bakery in Kuthar. The police have seized lethal weapons, chilly powder and a knife from the arrested.
