Mangalore: The civic tiger will start its operation from tomorrow again in the places like State Bank and Lady Goshen in order to restrict it completely and in turn they will be provided alternative place inside the central market, said Mayor Praveen Anchan.
Addressing the protestors in the press meet held at his chamber on June 7, Tuesday, he said that further within a month’s time, the MCC will start making the place for the street vendors to sell the items inside the central market . The vendors after selling their products must vacate the market place and must not reserve the place permanently by keeping their goods at one place.
He also said that, the MCC sanctions the time duration from morning 7am to 7 pm for the vendors to sell their products. They must also keep the place clean, by not throwing the vegetable waste in the market surrounding.
The MCC will take stringent action against the vendors trying to take the place illegally in front of any shops or roads. In spite after providing the place to the vendors, if they are seen selling vegetables or others things on street will be evicted, he added.
Corporator Sudhir Shetty said that the evection operation will be conducted in the place where pedestrians are facing lot of problems. Further the MCC is planning to select a place for the vendors to sell the products and name it as Vendors Street.
He also said that MCC do not have any intention to harm the poor vendors and cannot even ignore the public’s problem. The vendors shifted to the central market will also have to pay the rent of Rs 2 for the basket of products per day, he added.
MCC Commissioner Dr KN Vijayaprakash and Deputy Mayor Geetha Nayak were present.
