Mangaluru: Following pressure from the public, Ujire Range Deputy Forest Officer, Keerthan Shetty has been transferred to Puttur. The decision came amid continuous pressure by the locals to punish Keerthan Shetty who brutally assaulted Kamaldas, a native of Puduvettu here for allegedly stealing wood from the forest even if he lives beyond the jurisdiction of the forest.

The villagers expressed their anger against the act of the forest officer and a memorandum was submitted to Karnataka chief minister and forest minister demanding immediate legal action on the officer.
