Bangalore: Justice N.S. Hegde who retired as state Lokayukta recently, asked voters in city not to vote for those who had criticised Jan Lokpal Bill and kept aloof.
He told citizens assembled in Freedom Park to vote for anybody other than the enemies of Jan Lokpal. The protestors at the Freedom Park were lending support to Anna Hazare fasting in Delhi, during the last 10 days here.
Justice Hegde stated that certain arrogant politicians had questioned those who advised the Centre on Jan Lokpal Bill in common national interest, but the ruling Congress ministers were asking, ‘who are you to tell us?’ These so called elected representatives of the people have lost their will to fight large scale corruption and their UPA government. (a mixture of parties) is still hesitant about backing a Jan Lokpal Bill, meant to bridle the running horses of political lust for power and money, Hegde accused.
Let them not get your votes next time, even by mistake. It is alright if you vote others, not these arrogant men/women of power, Justice Hegde pointed out. The current agitation in Freedom Park, running for 10 days, has all groups of people like students, youths, women, professionals, artistes, NGO members and other citizens in their thousands.
