Mangalore : Former mayor and senior BJP leader Shanker Bhat is reportedly not interested in contesting the MCC elections this time. Shanker Bhat has always been vociferous at the MCC council meetings and was actively taking part in the discussions.
Still he has chosen to keep himself away. There are reports which state that Shanker Bhat’s two sons are holding strategic posts in the government and he did not want his political career to affect their work.
There are also reports that two other sitting corporators Tilakraj from Krishnapur ward and Yashwanth Meenakaliya from Baikampady too are not interested in contesting. However, party sources said they might change their decision in the event of pressure from the party.
