Karkala : Several state and local leaders joined the funeral of former Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandary at state honours at Hebri near here at his residence on Friday, July 5.

Several leaders including Udupi District in-charge Minister Jayamala and former chief minister M Veerappa Moily paid their last respects to former Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandari who passed away on Thursday. Bhandari who was travelling by a bus from Bengaluru passed away due to a heart attack during the travel.

The mortal remains were kept at the Kisan Bhavan at Karkala for people to pay their last respects. Among those who paid their respects to the late leader included former ministers Vinay Kumar Sorake, Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA Sunil Kumar, and former MLA U R Sabhapathi.
