Mysore: A former speaker of Karnataka Vidhana Sabha, K. R. Ramesh Kumar, has blamed non-voters but conscious citizens of the country, during elections for the bad situation confronting Indian political life today. He was presiding over a One-day seminar on “Legislature, Behaviour of Legislators and the Act that prohibits party hopping” held together by the JNN College, Public Relations – Legislative Research and local chapter of Indian Public Administration, at the local Law College today.
He expressed regret over the fact that responsible voters were not participating in democracy by voting in recent years, thereby not sending proper representative to the legislative and ruling bodies. But they used to vote regularly even under Emergency (1975) and before, he added.
