Mangalore: Former president of Mangalore Taluk Panchayat Khalid Yusuf (70) met a tragic end in a road accident near Adyarkatte in the outskirts of Mangalore on May 26, Saturday.

The mishap took place when a speeding Maruti Swift car hit his two wheeler from behind, as Khalid was on way home from the GP office at Adyar.  Khalid who sustained serious head injuries, breathed his last.

Khalid who was a Taluk Panchayat member for three terms  headed the Mangalore Taluk Panchayat in 1995. He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
