Kundapur: The foundation laying function of the educational and cultural convention hall of Akhila Karnataka Konkani Kharvi Mahajan Sabha, was held at Trasi in Kundapur on November 18, Sunday.The hall will be constructed at a cost of Rs 5.85 crore. Manipal Global Education Services chairman T V Mohandas Pai, laid the foundation stone for the new hall.
Former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda who was the chief guest, said the state government was committed to the welfare of backward classes. He even inaugurated a Konkani Kharvi Conference on Development. He described the Konkani Kharvi people as hard workers.
A Narayana Swamy, State Minister for Social Welfare inaugurated the name board and plan of the building. Vishwa Konkani President Basti Vaman Shenoy, Udupi district in charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat, Third Finance Commission Task Force Chairman A G Kodgi, Byndoor MLA Lakshminarayana, Bhatkal MLA J D Naik, former MLA Gopal Poojary and others were present.
