Mangaluru : The 196 crores project of Kulai fisheries jetty foundation stone laid by Union Minister for Surface Transport, Shipping and Water Resources Nitin Gadkari through video conferencing, at a function held at the JNC Auditorium of NMPT on Tuesday, March 5.
The Sagarmala and Bharathmala schemes of various developmental programmes also lunched on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said the fisheries jetty will be completed by May 2022. He also stated that it will have a capacity to anchor around 300 boats. The Minister further said that the government will construct as many as 20 fishing jetties in various parts of the nation under the Sagarmala and Bharathmala projects and that a sum of Rs 4,132 crore will be spent towards the same.
Speaking as a chief guest of the occasion, DK District in-charge Minister U T Khader said it was good to know that vital projects like bypass road and bridge construction would be taken up under the Sagarmala scheme.
Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel unveiled the plaque of the developmental projects. He said Rs 16,000 crore grants have been secured during the past five years for various projects.
Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath SHetty presided over the function. MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Corporators Purushottam Chitrapur, Ganesh Hosabettu, NHAI officer Suryavamshi and others were present.
