Mangaluru : Four children from the district will be receiving National and State-level awards for achievements in different fields at the Children’s Day celebrations on Tuesday.
Swasthik Padma, from Kedila Murje in Bantwal taluk, is selected for the National Award for innovation in science (scientific experiment). He will receive the award from the President. The award carries a purse of ₹10,000 and a silver medal. He is the recipient of many State and national-level awards and has participated in numerous international science competitions.
Advika Shetty, from Surathkal, who was recommended for a National Award in the cultural field, will be honoured with the State award in Bengaluru on Tuesday. Ms. Shetty has bagged many State and National awards and participated in numerous international dance competitions.
Two boys, who saved the lives of their sisters are being honoured with State-level bravery awards on Tuesday in Bengaluru. Vaishakh, from Sajipa Muda in Bantwal taluk, fought off a python to save himself and his sister. K.R. Nithin, from Kaukradi village in Puttur taluk, successfully administered life-saving techniques on his sister who was bitten by a snake.
