Mangaluru: In a heart-rending incident in Belthangady taluk’s Nada village four persons from one family died after drowning in a pond on Wednesday.

Rahim (30), Rubina (25), Yasmin (23) and Suban (15) are identified as the deceased persons. All are residents of Kaup, Udupi district.

The family was on the way to Kajur Darga. They stopped the car near a pond as Suban wanted to wash her feet. Accidentally she fell in pond and when others ran to rescue her also fell all together.

Rubina and Yasmin’s mother Maimuna screamed for help and upon hearing her scream some local people ran for help. They saw Maimuna also helping the drowning people to come out of the pond. Though local people got into pond, they also couldn’t save their lives.

A case has been registered at Belthangady police station.
