Udupi :A family of four members committed suicide consuming cyanide at their house in Padubelle near Udupi on Thursday, July 13.

Shankaracharya (51), his wife Nirmala (42) and their children Shruthi (24) and Shreya (21) are the deceased.

Shankaracharya owned a Shreya Jewellers in Padubelle. After closing his jewelley shop on Wednesday, he returned his home. When the house door not opened till morning, the locals have informed their relatives. The incident came to light when the door was broken.

It is said that Shankaracharya had financial problems. His one daughter was supposed to get married and her engagement got cancelled due to family problems.

Shirva police have registered a case.
