Mangalore: Renowned religious writer and Sanskrit scholar of Udupi, Bannanje Govindacharya on Monday conferred the B.Ramacharya Memorial award on five senior journalists at a ceremony held in Lions Bhavan in Brahmagiri, organised by KSC Hegde Green Park memorial centre. The awards were:
Two former Kannada Prabha reporters, Damodar Uchil and chidambar Baikampady, Udayavani Mangalore Bureau chief Manohar Prasad, senior reporter of Vijay Karnataka M.Arif Padubidri and lastly, Ms. Seethalakshmi Karkikodi, sub-editor in VK.
The awards were jointly instituted by Hiriadka school and padmannur publications, and Kaup Vidyaniketan.
Govindacharya spoke on he occasion about his father who encouraged independent thinking in him, and his brother Ramacharya, who moulded him into a dedicated scholar.
Ambathanaya Mudradi, president of Udupi KSP branch, presided on the occasion.
U.R. Sabhapathi, former MLA, also spoke.
N.Gururaj of Udayavani, Sarvajna Acharya, a publisher , Sandhya, shetty, principle and V.K. Udayawar, administrator of Green Park central school werepresent.
