Mangalore : Fr. Muller Charitable Institutions observed the death centenary of its founder Fr. Augustus Muller SJ on Nov 1, Monday. The brand new hi-tech laundry and the Fr. Muller Museum were inaugurated and the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new building of Fr. Muller College of Nursing was held on this occasion.
The chief guest of the event was Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh IPS. Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, who is also the chairman of FMCI, presided over the programme.
Speaking in appreciation of Fr. Augustus Muller, Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that Fr. Muller was a great homeopathic doctor who never commercialized his profession, but served the society without expecting anything in return. He also urged students to follow the ideals of this great personality.
In his presidential address, the bishop said that the spirit of Fr. Muller spreads the message of Christ through love, service, and care.
Director of FMCI Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, Administrator of FMMC Fr. Denis D’Sa, Administrator of FMMCH Richard Coelho, Fr. Vincent Saldanha, Dean of FMMC Dr. J. P. Alva, Medical Science Head Dr. Sanjeeva Rai, and Principal of Nursing College Sr. Jacintha D’Souza were the prominent people present.
