Mangalore: One Sumith Raj, a resident of Morgansgate in Mangalore, who was wanted by the police in connection with cheating several in chit fund business, was arrested by the Pandeshwar police on October 1, Monday over a cheque bounce case.
The arrest followed a complaint from a person from Thane in Maharashtra after a cheque for Rs 90000 which Sumith Raj had issued to him, had bounced.
Though the complaint was in Thane station and the court there had issued a warrant, Sumith Raj had failed to appear before court with the Thane Police finally contacting Pandeshwar police to help them trace Sumith.
Reports said Sumith Raj who had an unauthorised chit fund business used to collect money from people promising higher interest. Though a few cases had been registered against him earlier, he had filed counter cases.
