Bangalore: A petition was filed before the Lokayukta court on October 4, Thursday against former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda and seven government officials including Chief Secretary, on the charges of grabbing property by misusing power. The petitioner is social activist CR Nagaraj and the case is scheduled for hearing on October 17.
According to complainant C R Nagaraj, the state had identified 48 acres of land at Giddadakonenahalli in Yeshwantpura hobli under a Central government-sponsored programme for economically weaker sections, and allotted 910 plots to landless people.
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) which in 2003 had issued a preliminary notification for land acquisition for Visvesvaraya Layout, before the final notification had transferred four acres to Basaveshwara Little Flowers Educational Society and six acres to Buddha Education Society.
Following this, a writ petition was filed in the High Court, and the court in 2008 declared the land transfer illegal.The special leave petition filed in the Supreme Court by the educational institutions and the BDA was turned down, following which another petition was filed in the High Court seeking to to set aside the land for the educational institutions. The petitioner Nagaraj has contended that the accused had managed to get a HC order in their favour by misrepresenting the facts.
