Mangalore : Regional Transport Officer C Mallikarjun has said that three pre-paid auto counters will function in a full-fledged manner at Central Railway Station, Kankanady railway junction and KSRTC Bus Stand, Bejai from January 1 onwards. He said the pre-paid counters will issue printed receipts using simputers, which he released during a talk on Road Safety organised at the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Mangalore on December 21, Friday.
The RTO further said women should come forward and complain in case they face harassment in buses. He said the RTO would take serious note of such complaints and would cancel the permit of drivers who are found guilty.
He also urged the public to adhere to traffic rules strictly. Mallikarjun further said the bus drivers need to be trained in soft skills and added bus drivers who tend to lose at times should not be blamed as they would be tired of driving all through the day. He said the RTO would educate drives and encourage them to refrain from flouting rules.
