Mangaluru: A sum of Rs 218 crore and Rs 195 crore respectively will be sanctioned for drinking water and UGD facility within the MCC limits, said Mangaluru North MLA Moidin Bava.
Addressing the media on Saturday, Bava said that Rs 218 crore would be utilised for repairs in pipelines and for supplying water to all wards in the city. He added that a survey would be conducted to see that Underground Drainage system was provided in all areas as well as an upgrade for existing systems.
With regard to the Thumbe vented dam project, he said that once the water level rose to five meters, about 41 acres land would be submerged of which 18 acres was private land. He informed that the Deputy Commissioner had already appealed to the Secretary of the Department of Urban Development regarding sanctioning Rs 10 crore as compensation.
