Manjeshwar: The Inter State Gandhi Peace Bus Yatra that commenced from Kanyakumari with the slogan “Youth on the path of Gandhiji’ will reach Kasargod on July1. Around 45 likeminded youth from all over the nation are taking part in this historic Bus Yatra and Kasargod district is all set to welcome the yatra which will travel along Neeleshwar, Kanhangad, Kasargod, and Manjeshwar where different programmes have been organized.

The Yatra will be covering those places which Gandhiji had visited during his struggle for freedom. The Yatra is a joint initiative of the Department of Information and Communication of the Kerala Government, Kerala State Youth Services Department, Tiruvananthapuram, Gandhi Memorial Fund and Nehru Yuva Kendra. The Yatra will conclude on July 3 and various programmes like seminars, debates and cultural programmes are planned.

There are a total of six vehicles in this yatra which has  a mobile exhibition on Gandhiji and also a book exhibition.

The Yatra would be accorded a grand welcome at the Anantha Yatri Nivas of Sri Anantheshwara Temple of Carstreet in Manjeshwar on the evening of July 1. At 4 pm there is a commemoration speech in memory of late N Venkatesh Rao, senior Gandhian who passed away recently. Several dignitaries are expected to attend the function.
