Mangalore : The officials of Rilogistic Infrastructure Limited dealing with the central government’s gas pipeline project went out of the meeting in between that was convened at Taluk Panchayath office on Nov 24, Thursday.
The gas pipeline project which includes the laying of underground pipelines in Addur, Mulur, Thenkulippady, Kandavar, Maravoor, Malavoor, and Adyapady was initiated by central government easy supply of natural gas from Thirutthani in Tamil Nadu to other parts of the country.
Prior to the convened meeting the company officials draft a notice to the villagers to attend a proposed meeting to discuss land acquisition for the project and as per the notice large number of farmers came for the meeting. But when the farmers were asked to sign the blanck documents by the company officials and the tahsildar, they became furious.
The farmers complained that most of the agricultural lands has already been acquired companies such as MRPL and MSEZ and for projects such as the runway extension of Mangalore Airport. They they stated that they were only called to discuss the issue but the company officials ask them to sign the blank documents.
The officials who could not convince the farmers left the venue in between the meeting.
