Udupi : A young auto rickshaw driver met a tragic end, as he was pulled away by the strong waves at Kaup beach, who had had come with his wife and kid on April 24, Thursday evening.

The deceased auto driver is identified as Shahid (25) from Belapu.

It is learnt that, Shahid who had been to beach with his family had parked his auto at the autorickshaw park near old taluk office in Udupi.

Shahid who was playing in the water was washed away by the giant waves. Even though two local swimmers Nitin and Vinod went to rescue him, went in vain.

Later the body was retrieved.

Knowing about the incident, District Minister Vinaykumar Sorake visited the spot.

Kaup police have registered a case.
