Mangalore: Muneer Katipalla, District President of the DYFI, has charged the Union as well as the state government of total failure to solve the problems confronting the younger generation due to unemployment.
He was speaking after inaugurating a protest programme “Give us Employment or Allowance” organized in front of the DC office in Mangalore on November 28, Wednesday. The protest was organized as a first move opposing the ‘anti-youth’ policies of the governments that has aggravated the problem of unemployment.
Continuing, Muneer said the unemployment problem has left the younger generation desperate. He said though nearly 1.8 lakh government posts are lying vacant, the government was not taking any step to fill the same. He also stated that instead or providing jobs to youngsters, the government was increasing retirement age and also re-appointing retired persons.
He also stated that there were over 15 lakh vacancies under the central government and added there were three lakh vacancies in the railway department alone. He further charged the government of neglecting the public sector undertakings which create employment. Stating that the undue patronage to private sector which have failed to provide jobs to local youth and added both the Congress and the BJP which promised o provide unemployment allowance to youth during elections, have cheated the youth.
Imtiyaz, City Unit DYFI President, Dayanand Shetty, DYFI city unit secretary, Jeevanraj Kuttar and others were present.
