Mangalore: Dempo Goa’s second seeded Anurag Mhamal became the Champion in the final 9th round of FIDE-rated Chess tournament conducted as All India open, on Wednesday, securing 7.5 points, in spite of a draw.
Although he had the same points, and tied with V. Raghavendra of Karnataka and Akash Thakur of Railways, tie-breaks favoured the Goan junior player who received Rs30,000 as his first prize. There were several players on 4th spot with 7.0 points.
