Udupi : Two gold chains on the statue of Our Lady of Miracles at the Milagres Cathedral at Kalianpur, have been found stolen by  breaking open the lock of the glass case. The theft is said to have taken place on Sunday night.

Even the crown of Infant Jesus was found lying close by the idol on the ground. The theft came to light on Monday morning when devotees arrived at the shrine. The Parish Priest Fr Stany B Lobo  has lodged a complaint  with the police.

Finger print experts have also been pressed into service. However, though a watchman was on duty, he was unaware of the theft. Investigations are in progress.
