Mangalore: Royal D’Silva, true to his name, won a gold medal in 4x100m relay held in Ludhiana (Punjab) at a national team event for under 19 year boys category, organised by school Games federation of India recently.
He studies in Rosario P.U. College at Mangalore. he was the only athletic (from DK) and city, along with athletes from Alva’s in Moodabidri, to represent the Karnataka state.
The boy has won several medals earlier in 2011, at state/national events. He was second both in 100 meters run with a splendid timing of 11.5 seconds, and also, in 4×100 meters relay in October last.
Royal was goalkeeper of his college team in soccer, that won Independence Cup in 2011. he is happy about the encouragement provided to him by his parents in Attavar.
Kariya Rai, PT instructor in Rosario High School spotted his talent. Johan Lobo and Dinesh Kunder trained him to become a budding star in sprinting.
