Mangalore : Golden girl Poovamma, gets a rousing welcome upon her arrival from Incheon, South Korea after participating in the Asian games at the Mangalore International Airport on October 7, Tuesday.
Poovamma has made the Mangaloreans proud after winning bronze in the women’s 400 metre race event and a gold in the women’s 4×400 metres relay.
Speaking on the occasion Poovamma said that state and Indian Athletic Federation had assured to render their support.
She also said that till date she has not received any support but further she wished to get support from state and federation.
She also said the ministers had also arrived in South Korea and wished for the success and hence we expect the same in future too.”
Speaking on Asian games, she said that it is a great thing. In spite of no proper facilities, we performed well in athletics and am satisfied with a bronze medal, but further aim to bag gold in the next Asian Games, she said.
Poovamma urged sponsors to s come forward to support the athletes to borne our expenses. Since the Federation alone cannot do everything.
State sports and youth affair minister Abhayachandra Jain assured to urge CM to provide international training to the athletes.
