Mangalore : Several suggestions to provide relief to the Endosulfan affected people of the district, were put forth at the meeting of the Committee formed for the welfare of Endosulfan affected people at DC office on September 21, Saturday.
The meeting was attended among others by DK District Minister and Committee President Ramanatha Rai, Health Minister and Committee Vice President UT Khader, Deputy Commissioner N Prakash, ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni, ZP President Koragappa Naik, Moidin Bava, Shakuntala Shetty and JR Lobo, Legislators.
Almost all participants of the meeting demanded permanent compensation to the victims and also a job to one member of the family of an Endosulfan affected person.
Rai who spoke on the occasion said the suggestions will be considered and a report would be presented to the government on its basis.
In December 2012, a total of 1907 endosulfan affected people were identified through special camps. Dr Arun, Officer of District Health Department said so far in various surveys a total of 2479 Endosulfan affected people have been identified.
