Mangalore: This Friday (April 6) is observed as Hanuma Jayanthi by Hindus, ‘Jumma Prayers’ day by Moslems, and as Good Friday(the day Jesus Christ was crucified by Romans and Jews) by Catholics as well.

The Good Friday is observed all through the day, as Christ was crucified in the afternoon, and his body was taken down late in the evening in the presence of his body was taken down late in the evening in the presence of his mother Mary.
Churches put on “Easter Week” looks for fervent Prayers, mourning for Christ’s passion on the cross, and the sudden cloudburst thereafter on Mount Golgotha.

Devout Christians thronged the churches in Bejai, Bendore, Hampankatta(Milagres) and Pandeshwar(Rosario), among others, to attend special masses in faithful service in various languages.

SAC Chapel on the Light-house hill also had many hundred visitors to mourn Christ today.

The day reminds everyone of wearing their own Crosses in life, and lead a journey of sorrows to liberation of the soul.

Devotees sang hymns to the memory of Christ, who is resurrected on Easter Sunday, when Lent period and Easter end with eggs painted in a nest.

The cross that Jesus carried on Good Friday become the symbol of devotion of every Christian, and a Corinttean Soul become Paul in his (Christ’s) praise.
