Mangaluru : The 16th anniversary programme of Govanitashraya Trust, a rehabilitation centre for cattle and women, will be held on the goshala premises on March 5 and 6.
Addressing mediapersons here, the trust secretary Dr P Anantakrishna Bhat said meets of astrologers and Vaidikas will be held in the morning and afternoon on March 5. A Krishnavesha competition will be held at 5 pm for children below 12 years.
Kaniyoor Mutt seer Sri Vidyavallabha Swami will lay the foundation stone for the construction of the fourth cowshed ‘Gowri’. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, progressive agriculturist Rajesh Naik Uleppadi and others will be the guests on the occasion.
The valedictory programme will be held at 4 pm on March 6. Vittal palace Arasu V Janardhana Varma, Mulki Palace Arasu Dugganna Savantha, Aladangadi Palace Thimmanna Arasu Dr Padmaprasad Ajila and Mayippadi Palace Arasu Jayachandravarma will be the chief guests.
‘Punyakoti’, a dance drama, will be performed by the students of Bharatanatyam Guru Prathima Shridhar Holla, after the valedictory programme.
Bhat said the trust has been running the Govanitashraya Rehabilitation Centre spread across 10 acres of land at Beejagiri in Pajeeru near Konaje from the last 15 years. More than 300 cattle are reared in ‘Kapila’, ‘Ganga’ and ‘Amrita’ goshalas, he added.
Honourary president Prof M B Puranik, Working President Hithendra J Shah, Trustee L Shridhar Bhat and trustee Manohar Tulajaram were present.
