Bangalore: The state Government was committed to protect cattle from Wanton slaughter in the entire state, and the Cow protection Bill in a slightly modified form, would be re-introduced and passed in the Assembly in the next session, CM DV Sadananda Gowda reiterated here on Wednesday in city, during a function organised to celebrate the Mahaveer (Vardhaman) Jayanthi.
The CM said with minor amendments were called for, by the central Government in the Bill which is awaiting President’s approval as state Governor had forwarded it to the lady on Raisina Hills.
The amendments would be brought up during the next Legislative Council session, for consideration and passing, to enforce the Bill under all circumstances in state, for which the BJP Government, was fully involved and ready to act.
The CM added that an anti-Cow slaughter, and service Commission for cow protection would be formed as indicated in the latest Budget soon.
Gowda pointed out that in modern days, people hankered after money and have forgotten non-violence and peace taught by our great sages like Mahaveera, 2611 years ago.
He praised, the Jains, for their silent Contributions to the society’s welfare. State congress chief Dr. G. Parameshwara promised support to the cow Protection Bill as approved by Constitution itself 6 decades ago.
