Bangalore: A delegation ld by senior writer Chandrashekhar Patil (Champa) met Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on June 20, Wednesday and submitted to him the study report on the problems being faced by border areas of the state. The report has been prepared by a team led by Champa himself.
The CM who accepted the report has assured to hold talks with his Maharashtra counterpart on the problem of border area residents.
The CM also said that he will not stake the interests of Kannadigas living in border areas and assured the problems will be solved on a priority basis. He further said the government was committed to provide all basic facilities to border area Kannadigas.
The delegation drew the attention of the CM towards the fact that the Maharashtra government was not coming forward to provide basic amenities to the border area Kannadigas and that over one lakh people living in 44 villages in Jattha Taluk of Sangli district were willing in case their village was merged with Karnataka.
Kannada Development Authority Chairman Mukhyamantri Chandru assured on the occasion to prepare a list of the problems faced by border area residents within a week.
The delegation included members of the Swabhimani Karnataka Vedike and senior writers including P Purushottam, Harihara Priya, Bheemashanker Patil and others.
