Mangalore : D C A B Ibrahim said that this year DK district administration will organize Karavali Utsav for 12 days from December 20 to 31.
Speaking at the preparatory meeting held at his office on n September 22, Monday he said that apart from the exhibitions arranged by the event managers, this year various government departments will also feature their exhibition.
The government departments like education, health, social welfare, backward class, ITDP, agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, watershed and forest departments will reserve a good share of the stalls to explain their features to the general public for 12 days while, exhibitions by event managers will be open for 30 days. During these 2 days each department will get an opportunity to observe one day as the particular department’s day with an estimated at Rs 40 lakh.
A platform will be provided to perform traditional folk arts, rural games and for traditional food to promote the art and culture of coastal region. This year the main stage will be used by the District and state-level artistes will showcase their expertise.
People from different regions and states will exhibit the typical food of that particular region in the food festival organized on the occasion, he said.
As a part of event, the administration will also organize Beach Utsav comprising Kite festival, sand art, water sports, beach volleyball, tug of war, Mangalore marathon, beach Kabaddi, beach throwball.
Speaking on the occasion, District-in-Charge Minister directed DC to permit nationalized banks and public sector companies to open their stalls in Karavali Utsav.
Prior to the exhibition, a grand procession will be arranged at Nehru Maidan and lead towards Karavali Utsav ground.
