Mangalore : M. Veerappa Moily, the union corporate affairs minister, alleged that the government of Karnataka is using the phone tapping and mining report leakage episode to divert the attention of voters from the mining report and its contents.
Visiting Mangalore for the first time with his new portfolio, Mr. Moily told reporters that CM B. S. Yeddyurappa, whose involvement in the mining scam has been proved beyond doubts in the Lokayukta’s report on illegal mining, no longer has any excuses. He also said that the real issue now is the Lokayukta report, not the phone tapping or the leakage.
He said that the only way for Yeddyurappa to save whatever is left of his reputation is to resign before the Lokayukta’s mining report is published.
