Mangalore : Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri speaking at the press meet held at Shri Ramakrishna Mutt on August 27, Saturday said that the schools commenced functioning between 1991 and 1995 will receive government aid, and more than 1000 schools across the will receive aid from this year.
Speaking on the efforts to ensure that all children in the state get education, he said that admission for children aged 5 years and 10 months in the schools has been made compulsory and books, uniforms, and other facilities are being made available to students.
The public can complain against institutions demanding donations with the DC or the educational officers in the area. The CBSE and ICSE schools do not come within the jurisdiction of the state educational board and they have urged the centre to bring these schools under state education board.
The number of children getting admitted into Kannada medium schools is decreasing, he said that the government is working to popularize primary education in Kannada. He also said that the government is no longer permitting new English medium schools in the state.
